New Blog

Posted by Lacey Jo

Well , I got absolutely fed up with trying to get my header to work on this blog, so I decided to make a new one. Even when I tried to import my old blog into the new one...the header problem I was having transferred over onto the new blog. So please continue to enjoy the posts I have here on the "old blog," I won't be deleting it. If you are following my blog or have me on your favorites list please change the link to this.

I'm disappointed I couldn't get it all figured out and had to resort to this mess but...out with the old and in with the new I guess!

Sunday Stills Assignment-Reflections

Posted by Lacey Jo

When I saw the assignment at Sunday Stills this week I got a little nervous. I was at the farm earlier in the week and I saw one of the water tanks and ran with it. I have mixed feelings about my pics. I feel like I was totally capable of finding something more unique, yet I really like the reflection the fence and the whispy clouds.

Blog Header

I am well aware my blog looks like a disaster right now. No matter what I do whatever I upload into the blog header it does not show up....just the regular plain Calamity Lace text is there. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Controversy

After much debating on if I should go through with this post or not, I decided I should. In order to be consistent with demonstrating my every day life I feel like it is necessary to show and tell you what I see...whether it is good or bad. I am going to warn you now the picture I am about to show you is very graphic and dealing with abortion. Unfortunately those of us on campus yesterday and today did not get much of a warning when we saw this.

There was this sign up, but it was practically next to the display. The display was able to be seen from every of angle and distance of the vicinity it was located

There it is....the anti abortion display. It had three large sides, showing something different and graphic on each.

I am not going to be giving out my full on opinion or stance on abortion because honestly I do not know how I feel about it. It's a very difficult subject for me to grasp because if I look at it from a completely neutral position I can see the pros and cons on it depending on the varying reasons and situations it would take place. The problem I do have with this display is that it is so large and obvious. I DO NOT like extremist groups no matter who they come from and what they supporting. Seeing these touchy photos reminds me of the pamphlets P.E.T.A. passes out, with the also extremely controversial photographs used to target our natural human emotions. Of course I am not comparing them because they are two completely separate issues. It is interesting and sometimes bothersome to me to see the level people go to to get their points across. I know we all have freedom of speech, but sometimes I do think that line is crossed...that really hard to define line. Let's Take a Walk

Posted by Lacey Jo

First off I would like to thank all of you for checking out my Sunday Stills post yesterday and for all of the postive feedback! It was really a boost in my confidence to continue experimenting with photography.

Now let's take a little walk to my Sociology class...

This is University Avenue. Here there are a lot of little shops and places to eat.

Once I cross the street I will be on the Univ of AZ campus. I just love the rock entry walls.

If you take the path to the left it take you to the Arizona State Museum, go right and it takes you farther into campus.

Lot's of palm trees

Soooooo tall!

It's February 2nd and yes we still have flowers!

There is the fountain with Old Main just behind it.

This is where my cultural sociology class is held.

Down the hall...

...and I have arrived at my destination for the next hour.
